I’ll never forget when I became a mum.
Between the sleepless nights, endless feeds and just trying to figure out what day it was -
I remember thinking, “How do people have time to plan anything during this?!”
That’s exactly why I always recommend booking your newborn session before your baby arrives. Because once you’re in the haze of those early weeks, the last thing you need is the pressure of trying to find a photographer who’s available right now.
Why Book Ahead?
When my boys were born, those early weeks were a blur. Between sleepless nights, recovery, visitors and just figuring out how to be a family of three (and then four), the days slipped by faster than I expected.
And that’s exactly why I recommend booking your newborn session during pregnancy. Once baby arrives, your date is secured, everything is planned and you can simply focus on cuddles and soaking it all in.
No stress, no scrambling.
The Magic Window
Newborn photos are usually taken within the first two weeks of life. This is when babies are still in that curly, womb-like stage that makes those dreamy, sleepy portraits possible.
With my own children, I remember how quickly that stage passed. Within weeks, they were more alert, more stretched out and already looking less like newborns. Booking early means we don’t miss that fleeting window.
Flexibility for Your Baby’s Timeline
Both of my boys arrived on their own schedules (because babies don’t read calendars).
That’s why booking ahead is so important - you’re not locked into an exact date, but you’re guaranteed a place on my calendar no matter when your little one decides to arrive.
Creating Something Personal
One of my favourite parts of newborn photography is the personal touches.
Maybe you have a special blanket passed down through generations, or maybe you want to include siblings meeting their baby brother or sister for the first time.
When we plan ahead, we can talk about what matters most to you, so your photos truly tell your family’s story.
Don’t Miss This Season
As a mum, I know how quickly the newborn days disappear.
You think you’ll remember every detail - the way their head fit in your hand, the soft squeaks they made while sleeping - but time moves fast.
Photos become your way to freeze that season, so years from now you can look back and remember exactly how it felt.
📸 From My Family to Yours
📍 I photograph newborns across the Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter Valley. If you’re expecting, now is the perfect time to secure your session, so when your baby arrives, you can relax and focus on what matters most - your little one.
